This is a script to give targeted practice with -ER/-IR imperfect regular verbs. It was inspired by Crystal Barragán's "La chica ideal" script, which I adapted to target a specific grammatical pattern.

STORY SUMMARY
The main character is a dynamic individual with many positive traits, and everyone wants to be with them (their friend, their significant other, their student, etc.). However, all of the people that want to be with/near them have some kind of a problem–really bizarre problems (that people in real life wouldn’t actually have). The main character doesn’t want to be mean but can’t really get past whatever it is that they notice about the people that approach them.
NOTE: Take special care in handling this story so as not to cause harm to your students by labeling qualities that your students may have as undesirable.

There was once a very charming boy. The boy was 17 years old. He had brown hair and could play the guitar and sing like Michael Bublé. He was named Rafael and he lived in Los Angeles. Many girls wanted to be his girlfriend because he really was the ideal guy.
One day, a girl came up to Rafael while he was eating a sandwich in the cafeteria. The girl was named Thianny and she wanted to be his girlfriend. Thianny was 17 years old. She had big, blue eyes and smelled like roses. She was almost perfect, but she had a defect. She had two mouths. She said, “Hello gorgeous!”. Rafael didn’t want to talk with Thianny. He became grossed out because she had two mouths. He decided to ignore her. He continued eating and eventually she left.
Another day, another girl came up to Rafael while he was eating a pizza at a pizzeria. The girl was named Courtney and she wanted to be his girlfriend. Courtney was 13 years old. She had long, blonde hair and smelled like vanilla. She was almost perfect, but she had a defect. She had a hand that came out of her stomach. She said, “Kiss me, baby!”. Rafael didn’t want to talk with Courtney. He became horrified because she had a hand that came out of her stomach. He decided to pretend that he didn’t speak English. He said, “alskjfa;lksdjf” and ran out of the restaurant.
Another day, another girl came up to Rafael while he was eating a taco at Taco Bell®. The girl was named Mu Hua and she wanted to be his girlfriend. Mu Hua was 42 years old. She had a huge nose and smelled like garlic. She was almost perfect, but she had a defect. She had a cat that accompanied her. She said, “Are you an angel?”. Rafael became red and couldn’t breathe because he was allergic to cats. Mu Hua called 911 and they arrived quickly….
