On the first night of Hanukkah...

Giveaway night 1: The Big CI Book by Ben Slavic!

The Big CI Book is "A Step by Step Survival Guide for Foreign Language Teachers. At 400 pages, it vastly expands on the skills and strategies we currently have available to us in TPRS/CI instruction...[it] describes in detail twenty-seven strategies [and] fifteen skills. This vastly expanded and new material will greatly help teachers because of the level of detail presented in the discussion of those strategies and skills."

When I first switched to TPRS®/CI from my former life using primarily cooperative learning, Ben's blog was invaluable to my success, I read all of his shorter instructional manuals, and I used scripts from the Matava Script Volumes 1 and 2. Whether you are just beginning your journey or are a seasoned expert, his Big CI Book will be valuable to you. (If you already own it, you can give it to someone you know that could use it!).

Now, like I said in my posts announcing the Hanukkah giveaways, you must put some skin in the game if you want to win. In this season of sharing and giving, you will be asked to give something to the World Language teaching community each day!

In order to win The Big CI Book, you must enter at least one target structure in the target structure database. The goal for the database is to give ideas to other TPRS®/CI teachers about which structures they could possibly target and what structures might be appropriate to target at any given level. It is only necessary to fill in the first three columns (target structure in the target language, English translation, and language of instruction), but if the target structure comes from a script, reading, or other activity that you or someone else has posted, please include the link!

Click here to enter target structures in the database. Then, when your target structure(s) are entered, Click here to enter the giveaway.

Remember, your entry must be submitted before 10:00pm EST on December 7! The winner will have 24 hours to claim his or her prize after I send the email notification, and I will have the book shipped to you.

Night 2's giveaway will be announced on this blog OR on my Facebook page tomorrow night at 6:00pm EST, so be sure to check both!
