News you can use in Spanish classes: new subscriptions!

April 23, 2018

This spring, we celebrated the two year anniversary of El Mundo en tus manos, the news publication that brings you simplified news stories from the Spanish speaking world! It has been a fantastic two years, and I have enjoyed curating current events from around the globe to bring you interesting and important stories that will help you to feel confident when discussing current issues facing Spanish speaking communities. Browse past issues here!

The 2016-2017 subscription was a weekly publication, but I was unable to keep up with the grueling schedule last year. For that reason, the 2017-2018 subscription has been bi-weekly. So...how am I able to offer a weekly subscription again??

MARIS HAWKINS!

Maris was my original inspiration for publishing current events in Spanish, and she has published news articles on EMETM's off weeks this year--so it is only fitting that we join forces to be able to offer you exactly the subscription that you need! We are EXCITED to collaborate on this project in the coming year, and we are confident that together we will be able to provide even greater value to our subscribers!

HOW TO USE NEWS IN CLASS?

Hundreds of teachers are using El Mundo en tus manos, and truly there is no one right way to go about it. Some teachers print and add the articles to their class libraries for free reading; others share one article per class period. Still others have dedicated one class period per week to current events! Maris and I hope that offering two different subscription levels and collaborating will allow even greater flexibility to meet your needs. Need some more specific ideas?
