Cinco de Mayo is this Thursday, and I've got lesson plans to fill your entire week! Teach your students about the real history of the holiday and learn about how and where it is most celebrated. The plans include pre-reading discussion questions, a Level 1 reading in Spanish about the history of Cinco de Mayo, a Level 2+ reading in Spanish about the history of Cinco de Mayo, comprehension questions for each reading, two video viewing activity descriptions with viewing guides, two infograph interpretation activities with Q&A form and discussion questions, a reading in Spanish about four common elements of Cinco de Mayo celebrations and activity suggestions for each element, a post-reading review game, projectable song lyrics, projectable versions of the readings and game questions (PPT & PDF), and suggestions for additional activities, including an in-class Cinco de Mayo celebration.
Kristy Placido has a pack of Novice-level readings that you can use this week, instead of or in addition to my resources!
And, finally, if you don't have a few dollars to spare on lesson plans, you can download this free Cinco de Mayo jigsaw puzzle, and I am quite certain it will fill at least an entire class period!
