Use the classic role-playing party game "Elimination" (typically called 'Mafia' or 'Werewolf') as a means to acquire language as your students hear many repetitions of target structures and detailed narration of the events of the game.

Complete instructions are included, along with Spanish-language posters and useful expressions for the game.

  • My students loved this game at the end of the year Spanish 2. The stories made it interesting for them; they really wanted to see how the townspeople died.

  • My students BEG for us to play. I have used it with my exploratory class and heritage learners and they all love it the same. :)

  • We had a great time with this mafia game! The kids got a hang of it quickly and we were able to keep it going the whole period!

  • My students beg me to play this any time we have extra class time or before breaks! It lends itself perfectly to comprehensible input discussions in which students can participate at various levels. Very engaging and always different. This could be a great icebreaker activity or earnable treat for students that keep them in the target language yet out of traditional textbooks. Love this activity!

  • My students loved playing this game! This resource provided everything needed to get started and cues for me to keep things on track.
