The Somos Curriculum is designed for students to demonstrate proficiency as delineated in state, national, and international standards for languages education.
Proficient learners can communicate about topics, for purposes, with an ever-increasing degree of accuracy and appropriateness.
Through self-reflection and open-minded curiosity, intercultural learners are able to relate appropriately to audiences from many different cultural backgrounds.
Unit Overviews connect classroom activities to each of the ACTFL's 5 C's: Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities.
Our Novice and Intermediate curricula prepare students for success in AP Language and Culture courses by incorporating AP skills, themes, modes, and task models.
Our program provides students with the necessary skills and intercultural understanding to enable them to communicate successfully in an environment where the target language is spoken.
Following ACTFL's Guiding Principles for Language Learning, our curricula support students in developing proficiency in alignment with the standards from all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
