El Día de los Reyes Magos | Reading and game

A reading and game featuring El Día De Los Reyes Magos

Novice (Levels 1-2), Intermediate (Levels 2-4)

This Spanish-language reading about El Día de los Reyes Magos was originally written to be used in the game "Strip BINGO", which is explained in the notes to the teacher. Alternatively, it could be used as a stand-alone reading or to play a more traditional game of BINGO.

In most programs, the reading will be comprehensible to students in their second year of Spanish language study and beyond. Some programs will be able to use it as a comprehensible reading in first year language classes.

This reading was written by Aimee Quinlivan and provided to The Comprehensible Classroom for the purpose of sharing it. Thank you, Aimee!

  • My students had a lot of fun with the reading. They really seemed to enjoy it, and I love any opportunity to give them culture!

  • Several students specifically asked to play Spanish bingo, and I was so excited to find this resource. It is especially valuable for me as a newer, non-Hispanic Spanish teacher as I did not have much background with this holiday.

  • One of the traditions that I know my students really enjoy learning about. I've used this for the past 3 years, great resource!

  • I used this with all of my levels of Spanish. I adapted some translation and other activities for my high levels and it worked well for all groups!

  • My students were very engaged with this activity. I used it for learning right before and after Christmas break. It was great to celebrate Epiphany with them. Thanks!
