I read about this hotel on Achieve3000 and did a little research on my own to write this article. My Spanish 1A students will be able to read it when I get back to school with the target structures basura - trash and pared - wall. Playa would be an important word to teach if your students don't already know it. I'd also recommend doing a pre-reading activity to identify cognates if you are using this reading with a low-level class. There are comprehension questions (in English) and discussion questions (in Spanish) on the back, but I did not include directions for the students so that you can decide how you want your students to respond (on the back of the paper, on separate paper, out loud/not in writing, etc.). For more information about the hotel, visit http://www.coronasavethebeach.org/
