Originally written by Roberto Cantoral, “El Reloj” is a beautiful, simple Spanish song that has been sung by countless performers. A quick iTunes search will reveal the most popular version to be that of Luis Miguel, but my personal favorite is one done by the lovely Linda Ronstadt–yes, Linda Ronstadt! (Did you know that she sings in Spanish?–she does! Quite beautifully!)
I love using this song at the beginning of Spanish 1 because it is SO easy to understand, SO repetitive, and SO beautiful! Click here to download the lyrics sheet for the Linda Ronstadt version. If you are unsuccessful finding her version online, shoot me an email, and I’ll help you out!

This is also in the movie Selena which I show in Spanish one. Thanks
Nancy
Love Linda’s version. Just gorgeous. Gracias
Do you know anywhere that you can find it online? Or what album it is from?? I can’t locate it online; I just have an old CD from when I taught at SU.
I cannot find the Linda Ronstadt version of El Reloj online. Could you help me please?

Oh my goodness Martina. Haha! I haven’t heard this song for ages. Thanks for reminding me of it. I love the Trio Los Panchos version the most personally! 😉 Of course, I seem to love all of their versions of songs.
Awesome 🙂 Glad to jog your memory!
I found a version by VICTORIA SANABRIA in Itunes. Looks good so far.
Awesome!
