This resource will provide you with an easy to implement, acquisition-focused lesson to drop into any textbook unit. Students will learn the rooms of the home with the high frequency verb "il y a" as they work in teams to complete an Information Gap-style Running Dictation.
After reviewing the correct answers, the teacher reveals that the floor plans belong to a haunted house! The teacher leads the class in a Picture Talk sequence to discover what creepy creatures are lurking in and under various pieces of furniture in the home.
The materials are stored in a Google Drive folder that is accessed via a clickable link in the product download.

This was my first experience using a Running Dictation, and it was VERY successful. Every student was engaged, and I overheard several suggesting to friends that they should "play this game" in other contexts (like in theater rehearsal and speech practice) in order to help classmates learn their lines. It was very easy to use the follow-up PowerPoint to picture talk the rooms and guess what new creature was lurking in the furniture. I confess, I was a bit skeptical this would be successful with my "too cool for school" high schoolers, but it was a win! Thank you!
