This unit is designed to teach your students the core vocabulary words "cuesta demasiado", "compra", and "vende" in preparation to learn about El Sorteo Extraordinario de Navidad (the Spanish Christmas lottery).
These plans will fill 11+ 45-minute class periods. Some teachers choose to use the storytelling portion of the unit in sequence with the SOMOS Curriculum and reserve the Sorteo materials for around the holiday season (either in the same school year or the next). Others teach the full unit at the same time, regardless of when the lesson falls during the year.

I tried this unit before jumping all the way in to using SOMOS and I was so happy with it! My students were more engaged than every before and their abilities by the end of this unit were an extremely pleasant surprise!

I liked this resource but it was a little confusing jumping to the different pages. However, I did appreciate having two strands to choose from - the whole unit or just the Christmas Lottery part.

This set I have used to engage students with specific topics. When we talk about shopping and describe expensive and inexpenisve. During Christmas, students often just want to know "how do you say..." and I find the activities here help to put things in context and are more engaging than a list of vocabulary.
