Avoir expressions Sentence Bingo

Contextualized sentence bingo featuring comparisons vocabulary in French

Beginner (Level 1), Novice (Levels 1-2)
Google Drive, PDF
50 Pages

This BINGO game is unlike anything you will buy in a catalog! Instead of hearing isolated words, the teacher reads sentences to students as they search for pictorial representations of the sentence on their BINGO boards. This is a great way to turn a traditional vocabulary game into an input-rich activity.

This game features fun, mythical creatures and avoir expressions.

Sample sentences:

  • L'ogre a faim.
  • Le gnome a froid.
  • La sirène a chaud.

Avoir expressions:

  • avoir froid
  • avoir soif
  • avoir chaud
  • avoir faim
  • avoir sommeil.
  • avoir raison.
  • avoir de la chance.
  • avoir 15 ans.
  • avoir peur de ___.

40 BINGO boards, 45 sentence cards, and student keys are included for each set, and it includes resources to play either in a traditional classroom space, with printable boards, or virtually with digital/paperless boards.

  • There are so many avoir expressions, and let's face it, students aren't getting stronger at memorizing, so it is great to have many resources to practice with. The whimsical subjects were just enough to keep this practice fresh. Thank you.

  • Bingo is popular b/c the kids know it (we hdont have to explain the game). This version includes really useful expressions and enough context to not simply be a memorization game w/no hope for retention. Mercci!

  • My students ask to play this game all the time!

  • This game is AWESOME! I have used it in a variety of different ways over 5 days, and the students never get bored. They have readily learned all the avoir expressions, and by day 4, we did "call your own bingo", where we went around the room and each student took a turn saying a sentence from their own board. It was so popular that today, we played "black-out board" with the whole class. I was so impressed with their ability to say any and all of the sentences in French. LOVE that it is sentences and not just words. THANK YOU!

  • This bingo game was a fun and engaging way to help students to become very familiar with these idiomatic expressions. My students loved the creatures used on the bingo board and the pre-made sentences are great! It's a great game for when they first learn these expressions, but also easy to use as a quick review. I would use this not just for beginners, but also for intermediate students because idioms can be so tricky for some learners.
