Somos 1 Units 10-13 BUNDLE

The comprehensible classroom materials work well with my level 1 and 2 classes. Student proficiency increases for all students, with multiple ways for students to absorb the language.

As usual, all of her resources are excellent, and this one is as well. It does a really good job taking a somewhat complicated movie/and ideas, and making them accessible to early language learners. Kids loved it!

This was a very interesting unit! I was really satisfied with the way that Como agua para chocolate was simplified and explained in a way that was easy for my students to understand. Thanks! :)

My students loved this, particularly learning about Celia Cruz. It overlapped with Black History Month and so I was also able to incorporate other afrolatinas and it was such a powerful lesson in language and love!

Awesome unit. I was worried at first because I know the movie and book Like Water for Chocolate would definitely not be appropriate for my middle schoolers, but the connections between food and emotions are something everyone can understand. The scene that is suggested is completely appropriate for students. 

My first experience with Somos, I wanted to try it out before I committed to a whole curriculum. My kids were engaged and learned easily!

There was much more than I needed for my purposes. Will keep using in the future. The texts were great for my students. My students found the "Niños Triquis" text and video super interesting.

Great engaging resource to learn new vocabulary and grammar. 

This has been my favorite way to teach sports so far. My students loved the story about the girl who can't play and it sparked lots of conversation! I will use this year after year!

All of my students LOVED what I was able to present from this lesson plan!!! Some of them are SPORTS OBSESSED so having them read about sports in Spanish was super easy to ask! Despite being Spanish level I = they did an amazing job! Thanks Martina for creating interesting and relevant lessons that students LOVE!

LOVE THIS LESSON from Martina! I was only able to use parts of it over the "Valentine Week" but the students LOVED IT and would be thrilled to do more since they are totally into the novio/novia stage! 

When I first told my students they were going to be learning about el cortejo (and explained what that meant) they were weirded out. After starting the unit they quickly fell in love and all wanted to take turns being the cleptomano! :)

THANK YOU...THANK YOU for making the worksheets paperless. I can now add them to my Google Classroom easy peasy!!!!! I hope you will be doing this with all your units. This is the most helpful and redeeming my time thing you could have done!!! I am teaching in person, but when kids are absent, I would like to put a mini assignment on Google Classroom for them to do as make-up. I was digitizing what we did in class and it was so time-consuming. THIS MADE MY DAY TO SEE THIS FOR THIS UNIT!!! Please consider doing it for all...from this overwhelmed, tired teacher! 

I used the "El cortejo" and "Las cosas que dicen los novios" with my advanced (3-4) kids while they were reading "Selena"...it was a hit and great for the chapter about Selena & Chris! I love how those two activities are followed by an authentic reading about child development... ;) jejeje I plan to use the other materials with my level 2 class when they read "Robo en la Noche". SOMOS is always super!

I used this in Spanish I and my colleague used it at the beginning of Spanish II. This was the first I had really targeted "nadie"...and it was a great unit for that.

Students liked this unit and LOVED the Selena song. Many were singing along. Last week, a few were excited to tell me that there is a Selena program on Netfix

Students enjoyed learning about piropos! They got a kick out of figuring out the cheesy piropos and liked the song featured in this unit (Chico del apartamento 512).

My high schoolers were very excited to talk about pick-up lines and found this unit very interesting. I'll be using it again!

This unit has my students asking to listen to Selena for weeks! I love that it is grounded in an authentic resource that is relevant and relatable for students, but seamlessly opens the door to serious conversation. 

Fun unit! Students enjoyed creating the class story and learning about Selena.
