This is a reading that is comprehensible for late-first year Spanish students that talks about the Trash Hotel, a hotel made entirely of trash that was created to raise awareness about pollution on the beaches in Europe. I'm always looking for good authentic readings for my students that aren't too easy or too hard. I love that this is based on fact and is interesting. The kids did great with the few comprehension questions and were engaged with the material.

I used this for a sub plan in my Spanish III. We were on a unit discussing how to protect the environment and this reading fit in perfectly. I paired it with a video so that students could see a better visual of the hotel. It was a simple enough reading that they were able to do on their own without me being there which was great. I will be using this again.
